Who do we work with?
Since its conformation and up to date, the Association of Saamaka Authorities (VSG) has received the support of many allies, i.e. organizations and individuals, whose contribution has been crucial for the work we do. The support we receive from our allies ranges from technical to financial but also many valuable contributions to Saamaka knowledge documentation and dissemination. We also count with the support of skilled and knowledgeable individuals who provide us with advise in times of decision making and those who support us with project proposals and grant applications.
Tropenbos Suriname
Has supported the VSG since 2014 in the co-production of maps and knowledge about the Saamaka territory. Currently, Tropenbos Suriname is actively providing support for strenghtening VSG organizational capacity.
Tribal Peoples Development
Has contributed with important written knowledge about Saamaka traditional authorities governance system.
International Union for Conservation of Nature
UICN-NL supported with the first management plan training in 2013 in the framework of the Saamaka judgement (for which we had to provide a management plan)
Forest peoples program
Provided us with training, technical, legal and financial support to be able to file our case to the Interamerican court of human right

Provided financial and technical knowledge to the VSG in the context of the Saamaka case.
